On The Second Day

We had our ES&H staff meeting today. After my boss introduced me to the S&H team, one of the techs asked, "So when are you leaving?" "Nice," I thought, "It's only my second day! Is it that obvious that I've been sent here for a developmental role?" I could only reply with the standard answer my old boss had already prepared me with, "Well, I've just bought a condo, joined the Y, and enrolled my son in the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. I don't think we're going anywhere any time soon." "I've heard that before," the tech replied. Convincing the folks at the plant that I'm here to stay is going to be more of a challenge than I thought. I guess this is what comes with being professionally annointed.
